What is a planetary motor?

2024-09-21

Planetary Gear Motor (PGM) is a motor that transmits power through a planetary gear mechanism. The principle of operation is based on a planetary gear system, which consists of a central gear (known as the sun gear), multiple gears that orbit around it (known as planetary gears), and an external ring gear (known as the gear ring). This design is compact, has high transmission efficiency and high load carrying capacity, and is therefore widely used in applications requiring high torque and low speed output.

Features of planetary gear motors include:

1. High torque output: High torque transmitted due to the multi-tooth meshing design of the planetary gears.
2. High Ratio: the planetary gear structure can provide a large reduction ratio so that the output speed of the motor can be effectively controlled.
3. Compact: Compared with other transmission structures, the planetary gear system has a more compact size, which is suitable for applications with limited space.
4. High efficiency: Due to multiple gears meshing at the same time, the transmission efficiency is high.
5. Good stability: smooth running, lower noise and longer life.

Planetary gear motors are usually used in automation equipment, robotics, medical equipment, transmission equipment, automotive and other fields that require high efficiency transmission and stability.
